His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand kindly appointed Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak to graciously preside over Prince of Songkla University’s 2013 Convocation Ceremony. The Convocation was held at the PSU International Convention Center, namely “The 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne International Convention Center,” in Hat Yai Campus, from September 14–16.
A total of 7,836 graduates were presented with degrees, and nine honorary doctorate degrees were also awarded, including: an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Science bestowed upon Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn; an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences bestowed upon Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak; an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Political Science bestowed upon His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein; an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Arts conferred to Dr. Kris Rugsaken, Coordinator of Advising Resource Center at Ball State University, USA; an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Science conferred to Assoc. Prof. Robert J.S. Bob Beeton, Associate Professor at the School of Geography, University of Queensland, Australia; an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Public Administration conferred to Mr. Thakorn Tanthasit; an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Law conferred to Prof. Vicha Mahakun; an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Nursing conferred to Prof. Dr. Somjit Hanucharurnkul; an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Engineering conferred to Mr. Somyos Keratchewanun.
The PSU Convocation Ceremony commenced with a procession of students entering the hall to listen the inspiring speeches graciously delivered by Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak and PSU President Associate Professor Dr. Chusak Limsakul. The festivities were attended by more than 40,000 students, parents, and well wishers, over the three-day period.
