PSU Faculty
of Liberal Arts cooperates with Guangxi Normal University
to establish “Confucius Institute” to strengthen Chinese
language and Culture

The
Faculty of Liberal Arts, Prince of Songkla University and
Guangxi Normal University supported by the Office of Chinese
Language Council International (Hanban) give opportunity
the students and the public who would like to develop Chinese
language and learn Chinese culture in establishing the Confucius
Institute at PSU. The objectives of the Confucius Institute
establishment are to respond to the need of Chinese language
development of the Southerners and to strengthen the relationship
between Thailand and PR. China. |
On
December 29, 2006, H.E. Zhang Jiu Hua, Chinese Ambassador
to Thailand and Dr. Liang Hong, President of Guangxi Normal
University visited PSU to participate in the event and to
open ceremony.
“Confucius Institute” at PSU was initiated by the formulation
of the agreement between the two universities in February
which was signed by the former President, Assoc. Prof.
Dr. Prasert Chitapong.

The core jobs of the institute are to offer
courses via computer, arrange training courses for the teachers
who teach Chinese, arrange training courses for those who would
like to further their studies or work in China, arrange HSK (Hanyu
Shuiping Kaoshi) test which is the Chinese standard test for foreigners.
In addition, the institute assists PSU in developing curriculum
with Chinese universities, distribute information, recruit teachers,
and develop textbooks to suit the locals in learning Chinese.
